Meet Scott Maycroft, Shop Technician
He’s your go-to equipment expert at McCann
Scott Maycroft became familiar with heavy equipment while working at a dairy farm where he was responsible for maintaining their machines. He joined the McCann Marne branch 2½ years ago as a technician and excels at solving tough equipment problems for our customers.
“I really enjoy working in the shop,” Scott noted. He likes working behind the scenes and loves being a part of the McCann team because he gets to fix a lot of different types of equipment and solve different and complex challenges every day.
What sets Scott apart from the rest
Scott is the type of person who is amazing at his job but isn’t going to tell you that himself. So when we wanted to do this write up about him, we turned to his supervisor, Bruce Keegstra, service manager at the McCann Marne location. And he had a lot to say!
“Scott does his job really well and is always in a good mood. He is excellent at the routine service work, because he pays attention to details, is very thorough, and notices possible problems. He always explains things to our customers, so they understand exactly what needs to be done to avoid any problems. He goes the extra mile for the customer every time. If there’s extra work, he always picks up the slack. He cares about doing the right thing. He’s very versatile, very helpful and extremely well liked.”
Scott’s advice for you
We asked Scott if he had any advice for equipment owners and operators. Here is what he came back with as his primary tips: “Check fluid levels every day and look for leaks. If a hose breaks, you wouldn’t know unless you are checking the fluid levels daily, and a broken hose can cause a lot of problems if you don’t notice it right away.”
Born and raised in the area
Scott and his wife are from Coopersville, about 12 miles away from McCann’s Marne location. They currently live in the area and have four children, three daughters and a son. Scott knows Western Michigan and understands what its heavy equipment owners need to be successful!
