Weak or slow hydraulics can result from a worn pump, a mis-set relief valve, low pilot pressure, restricted suction, aerated or overheated fluid, a bypassing cylinder or a worn motor. McCann recommends diagnostic testing before ordering parts, including pressure and flow testing under load, pilot pressure checks and case-drain testing where applicable.

Provide the excavator make, model and serial number, along with the component nameplate or tag data. The machine badge alone may not identify the actual pump or valve manufacturer. For relief valves, include the valve-body markings and circuit involved. This information helps account for superseded part numbers and mid-production machine variations.

Remanufactured hydraulic components are available as an alternative to new OEM and quality aftermarket parts. Units are described as rebuilt to OEM specification, and exchange arrangements may include a core charge refunded when a rebuildable core is returned. Core condition and warranty terms should be confirmed in writing before ordering.

Yes. A failed pump can circulate metal debris through the reservoir, lines, cooler, valves, cylinders and motors. System flushing, reservoir cleaning and filter replacement help protect the replacement component. Fluid cleanliness can be evaluated using ISO 4406 coding, while filter efficiency is compared using ISO 16889 multi-pass testing.

McCann makes custom hydraulic hose assemblies in shop or on site, with available sizes ranging from 1/4 in to 1 in. Using hose, fittings and crimp specifications from one matched system helps preserve the assembly's pressure rating. Hose routing, heat exposure, chafing and the machine's service requirements should also be reviewed.

The appropriate option depends on the pump design, damage, machine condition, warranty priorities and available parts. Component-level repair may be possible when the manufacturer supplies internal parts. A remanufactured assembly can provide an exchange option, while a new OEM pump may suit applications where warranty or resale considerations are important.
