From a two-car garage to an industry leader.
McCann Industries began in 1967 when Richard “Dick” McCann founded McCann Construction Specialties in a small Villa Park, IL garage. What started as a local supplier of concrete forms grew steadily over the decades, expanding into equipment, tools, and full-service solutions for contractors. In 2000, the merger of McCann Construction Specialties and McCann Power & Equipment formed McCann Industries, Inc.—a company now spanning 10 locations across Chicagoland, northwest Indiana, and west Michigan. Guided today by Dick’s son Jim McCann, the company honors its roots of hard work and hands-on service while representing more than 400 trusted suppliers and manufacturers.
HISTORY
Since our start as a single storefront selling concrete forms in Chicago, IL, McCann Industries has spent nearly six decades building a reputation for relentless growth and an unwavering dedication to our customers. Our founder, Richard “Dick” McCann expanded his original storefront into a powerhouse for the sales, distribution, and repair of power tools, light equipment, and heavy equipment.
Our organization now spans ten locations across Chicagoland, northern Indiana, and west Michigan, with Dick’s son Jim at the helm. Each milestone in our timeline underscores the same guiding principle: Our goal is to equip contractors with everything they need, exactly when they need it. 1967
Company founded as McCann Construction Specialties Company located in two car garage in Villa Park, IL

Business moved into its first location (3,000sf) on Addison Rd, Villa Park, IL
Company moved to Cortland Court, Addison, IL
1973
Bought Duraform of Chicago in Alsip, IL. This was the Company’s first branch location

Current location in Addison, IL built
1977
McCann joined Associated Construction Distributors International (ACDI)

Second branch was opened Wauconda, IL
1986
20,000 square foot addition put onto the Addison location (45,000 sq ft total)

Bought Mobile Builders Supply in Chicago to become the 4th branch location
1989
Built a new 16,500 square foot showroom and office in Wauconda and moved into the new branch location

McCann Power and Equipment (MPE) started through the purchase of three Case Construction direct sales locations
2000
McCann Construction Specialties and McCann Power and Equipment merge and name changed to McCann Industries, Inc.
